With its beautiful 12" pale blue globe ball, this stylish desktop globe could be regarded as the younger sibling of the Edinburgh II. One of Replogles traditionally made range, the Biscay is functional as both a geographic tool and a stunning centrepiece in any room in the home or office.

The manufacturing of these globes is an ancient, skilled art. The globe ball is made of fibreboard, and the craft paper map is laid on top, giving the globe a genuine hand-crafted appearance. Although in these modern times, some machines are used, they are hand-operated and still require a high standard of skills.

The gracefully sloping base is made from Maple wood, from a sustainable source, finished with a highly polished teak effect. The globe ball is supported by a black riser and a matt finished silver coloured die-cast meridian, graduated and decorated with fleurs de lys.

Completely up to date, the Biscay has over 4,000 place names, including all the smaller Pacific Island groups. All the capital cities are marked with stars, and the major cities have population indicators. This globe has the popular raised relief feature which shows the mountain ranges, and adds a tactile element to the globe.

Many of the famous explorers through the ages are remembered with pictures of their boats, along with the dates of their voyages. The main shipping lanes of today are also clearly marked.
